Yemeni Army Announces Liberation of New Positions in Jawf

Yemen’s National Army announced on Saturday the liberation of new positions in al-Jawf governorate and the death of six Houthis leaders. Media Center of the Armed Forces issued a statement announcing that National Army forces were able to liberate several new areas in Bart directorate, north of al-Jawf, after fierce clashing during which the Houthi militias sustained great casualties. According to the statement, the army was able to liberate several Houthi posts in the al-Dhahra-Qaeef area of Bart al-Anan directorate, including the al-Nabiya, al-Ashash and Rah sites. The statement pointed out that clashes broke out Saturday morning with army forces progress on the one hand and Houthi militias faltering on the other. Houthi militias have not issued any statement about the battles so far. Spokesman for the sixth military legion, Abdullah al-Ashraf told Asharq al-Awsat that 1st Brigade forces – Border Guard took control of a number of positions in the mountains of al-Rabaa, northwest of the Burt al-Anan district, following violent clashes with the militants. Ashraf said that Houthi militias suffered dozens of deaths and injuries in their ranks, including prominent field leaders. He added that National Army forces had taken control of large parts of the mountains of al-Rabaa early this month. For his part, Colonel Hazem Khrassan of al-Hasm Brigade asserted that the army was able to liberate several areas in al-Dhahra – al-Qaeef, of Bart al-Annan. In addition, National Army announced that six Houthi leaders were killed in al-Malahiz front, west of Saada. National Army website “September.Net” published the names of the dead militants. In a related matter, National Army forces succeeded in thwarting an attack on its sites in Serwah, west of Maarib, killing and injuring several Houthi militants. Meanwhile, fighters of Saudi-led coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen increased their air raids and continued to launch attacks on military targets in various areas. Among the targeted sites were Houthi locations and store facilities in Sanaa airport and Dailami airbase. Several explosions were heard in the capital following the air raids.
