The Libyan parliament postponed voting over the constitution referendum to Tuesday, after a session that was held on Monday in the parliament’s headquarters in Tobruk, east the country. The session witnessed altercations among protesters who shut down the headquarters for some time. In a scene that has been repeated several times at the time of parliament sessions, protesters crowded and hindered the entrance of some deputies. Spokesman for the Libyan House of Representatives Abdullah Belhiq said the Speaker Aqilah Saleh suspended the Monday session during which the members were supposed to vote on a constitution referendum law, adding that they will hold another session Tuesday. Belhiq said 93 members attended the session and discussed the draft law, which divides the Libyan electoral process to three polling centers, with the passing of the law necessitating two-thirds of the votes plus one. United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Stephanie Williams met Monday in Tripoli with the President of the Libyan Audit Bureau Khaled Shokshok, discussed current economic issues and the anticipated reforms. Libyas Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj announced sacking Defense Minister Mahdi al-Barghathi. He decided to dismiss him from his tasks, in a message leaked by his bureau to the relevant parties. Sarraj government suspended Barghathi and referred him to investigations last May, in the backdrop of the bloody attack against the Libyan national army forces in Brak base, leading to the death of around 140 of civilians and militants. LNA spokesman Ahmed al-Mesmari said that Barghathi is an officer working for terrorist groups, during a seminar on Sunday in Cairo. He considered that Al Jazeera carried out malicious deeds in Libya, adding that the media coverage of al-Qaeda in Libya was through this channel. Human losses in Libya exceeded 50,000 since 2011, he said, accusing the international community of handing over Libya to al-Qaeda, Muslim Brotherhoods, and terrorist groups since 2011.
