The Saudi cabinet held on Tuesday its first-ever meeting in NEOM in the Tabuk region, reported the Saudi Press Agency. Chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the meeting tackled the latest regional and international developments. It reiterated the Kingdom’s condemnation of last week’s attack against Saudi oil tankers in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait in the Red Sea by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen. The attack proves without a doubt the danger of these militias and their backers against regional and international security. It also threatens international trade and navigation in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait and Red Sea, added the cabinet. It, therefore, stressed the importance that Yemen’s Hodeidah province, from where the attack was launched, be restored under the control of the legitimate Yemeni government to prevent it from being used for such terrorist attacks in the future. On international developments, it reiterated Saudi Arabia’s condemnation of last week’s suicide attack in Pakistan’s Quetta region. It also condemned attacks in Kabul in Afghanistan and the shooting in Toronto in Canada, expressing its solidarity with countries in their fight against terrorism and violence. Furthermore, the cabinet hailed King Salman for his order to host 1,500 the relatives of the martyrs of the Yemeni national army and Sudanese forces, which had taken part in operations in Yemen, to perform the annual Hajj pilgrimage. This offer is a reflection of his noble actions and ongoing services to Muslims, especially the relatives of martyrs, said the cabinet.
