The Saudi judiciary issued a preliminary ruling for a death sentence against a resident of Yemeni nationality, on charges of attacking vital and military sites and facilities. The man was accused of providing Houthi militias with the coordinates and the location of those sites, thus committing treason against the Kingdom, which had hosted him and gave him a residence permit. During a hearing at the competent criminal court in Riyadh on Thursday, the convicted man confirmed his links with terrorist organizations to which he gave information and coordinates of government and military sites and facilities, in an attempt to harm the security and interests of the Kingdom. The man committed the crime in return for money and promises by the Houthis that he would be given a key position in the terrorist movement. The Houthi rebellion group carried out a coup against the legitimate government in Yemen in March 2015, which is ongoing until now. It also looted the properties of the legitimate government and exerted control over military warehouses. The resident was also convicted of supporting the so-called Houthi rebellion group, which is designated as a terrorist organization and of committing acts of treason against Saudi Arabia, which hosted him and gave him a visitor’s permit. The man had sent several messages through social media networks and Whatsapp to some Houthi leaders and members, including photographs, information and coordinates of government and military sites, facilities and bases to be targeted by the terrorist group. Saudi Arabia granted regular residency to Yemenis who hold a visitor’s permit, as an expression of support to the Yemeni population.
