Minister of Defense and Military Production Lieutenant General Mohamed Zaki stressed the need to pay attention to the Information Warfare and rumors against the Egyptian state to question the achievements made on ground. The Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces also praised the fighting spirit of the Armed Forces personnel and their continued sacrifice to defend the security and safety of Egypt. This came during his meeting with a number of officers, Non-commissioned officers (NCOs), military personnel and soldiers of the Second Field Army on Wednesday. The Armed Forces’ strategy is based on protecting Egypts national security, securing its borders on all strategic directions, cooperating with the ministry of interior to secure the internal front and providing the security environment for comprehensive development plans throughout the country, he explained. Zaki also hailed the honorable people of Sinai for participating with the Armed Forces and Police in restoring security, stability and development to the Sinai Peninsula. He conveyed the greetings of President Abdul Fattah el-Sisi, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, in appreciation of their sacrifices and their heroic roles in clearing north Sinai from terrorism during the Comprehensive Operation- Sinai 2018. He stressed that the Armed Forces were and will remain the protective shield for security and stability for Egypt and the region. On July 23, Sisi also warned that Arab countries, including Egypt, were vulnerable to imploding from within under what he described as a barrage of rumors aimed at spreading instability. “The real danger is blowing up countries from within. Rumors, acts of terrorism, loss of hope and feeling of frustration, all these work in a grand network aimed at one objective, only one objective, and that is to move people to destroy their country,” Sisi said. Sisi said that his government had detected 21,000 false rumors over a period of three months. The Egyptian army, with the help of the police, launched a military operation in northern and central Sinai in February to confront armed groups, mostly those loyal to the terrorist ISIS organization.
