Dozens of residents of Eli settlement broke into Wadi Ali area of al-Lubban ash-Sharqiya village, located 20 kilometers south of Nablus, early on Friday and cut down 200 trees, Ghassan Daghlas, a Palestinian Authority official in charge of monitoring Israels settlement expansion activities, said. The incident had taken place although Israeli intelligence and army’s investigations have clearly indicated that the hit-and-run incident, which killed an Israeli woman, was a normal road accident. The accident occurred on a highway near the Havat Gilad outpost on Thursday night. A taxi driver, in his 60s, hit the 42-year-old woman and fled the scene, but he later turned himself in to the Palestinian police in Nablus. He said he fled because he was afraid. The settlers immediately thought this was intentional because the driver had fled. The street was lit, and there was no room for claiming that he had not seen her. The extremists gathered and carried out retaliatory attacks. They continued their attacks until late hours against citizens and their property in the city of Nablus and the roads leading to it, amid the protection of the occupation soldiers. Jewish settlers torched a Palestinian bulldozer as it was traveling along a road linking Urif village to the town of Asira al-Qibliya. They attacked a Palestinian house and punctured and damaged dozens of vehicles.
