More than 2.3 million pilgrims ascended Mount Arafat in Saudi Arabia, where they enjoyed silence, unity, and prayers asking for forgiveness and mercy. Transporting and organizing Hajj pilgrims going back and forth between holy sites also went on smoothly. Later Monday, Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz arrived in Mina to supervise the services provided during the Hajj pilgrimage. King Salman oversaw the comfort of pilgrims and ensured services provided by the relevant government and private sector bodies met needs of pilgrims and allowed for ease in performing Hajj rituals, reported the Saudi Press Agency SPA. An electronic guidance system that provides services to pilgrims in Makkah and holy sites proved a huge success for Hajj 2018. Mina is situated 5 kilometers to the east of the Holy city of Makkah and stands on the road from Makkah’s city center to the Hill of Arafat. For his part, Makkah Governor and head of the Central Hajj Committee Prince Khalid Al-Faisal the region of Makkah praised the smooth and easy flow of pilgrims from Arafat to Muzdalifah, an open area near Makkah associated with Ḥajj. Prince Faisal added that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is determined to save no effort in developing Makkah into one of the finest and smartest cities worldwide. In turn, Hajj and Umrah Minister Dr. Mohammad Saleh bin Taher Benten praised the great success of the e-guidance in facilitating the flow of pilgrims at airports, Arafat, Mina and Muzdalifah. The assistant minister for operational affairs at the Interior Ministry had also inaugurated in Mina an electronic identification tracking system for victims of accidents and disasters. He revealed that over 18 thousand buses were being operated through e-guidance. The e-guidance program, which benefits the pilgrim or any other person through smart devices, enters any information available to him such as the name of the institution or the office number. The application, which is available on the website of the association, will specify an electronic path for the Hajj or the information seeker. The application includes all the data of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Offices and campaigns related to pilgrims. More so, the Saudi Ministry of Health found no epidemiological cases among pilgrims, according to Health Minister Tawfiq Al Rabiah. Rabiah told Asharq Al-Awsat that the ministry, since the start of the Hajj pilgrimage rituals, has been prepared to deal with heat stress and sunstrokes and offer on spot treatment. Health ministry appointed physicians since the onset of Hajj performed more than 70 heart catheterization, 17 open heart surgeries and 6 deliveries. The Saudi minister pointed out that more than 1,700 medical staff and health workers and 12 medical observation centers are conducting medical examinations upon pilgrims’ arrival at land, sea and airports. The Health Ministry is providing intensive and continuous health services supported by a magnitude of cadres and state-of-the-art medical technologies, ensuring top health services for pilgrims.
