The Development of Makkah Region Authority announced on Saturday the success of its operational plan for this year’s annual Hajj pilgrimage, reported the Saudi Press Agency. The plan was adopted with the supervision of Prince Khalid al-Faisal, Advisor of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Governor of the Makkah region and head of the Authority. The coordination between the Authority and concerned powers in different sectors ensured the success of the plan. More than 14,000 employees were tasked by the Authority to implement the operational plan and oversee the services dedicated to the pilgrims. More than 2 million pilgrims performed this year’s rituals. The Authority highlighted in this regard the shuttle train that transported hundreds of thousands of pilgrims to the Arafat, Muzdalifah and Mina holy sites. The employees, most of them comprised of Saudi youths, are credited for the success of the operation of the shuttle train, said the Authority. The employees included engineers, conductors and supervisors. Saudi employees made up some 80 percent of the work force operating the trains. The Authority also hailed the security forces that helped manage the crowds at the train stations throughout the duration of the Hajj. Moreover, the proper organization ensured that the stoning of the Devil ritual took place smoothly, it said, while crediting the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for setting the necessary schedules for the ritual.
