Star player Mohamed Salah came up on top in his dispute with the Egyptian football federation after he had accused it on Sunday of ignoring his complaints about its unauthorized use of his image. The federation announced after a meeting on Monday that it will work on meeting some of the Liverpool winger’s demands and ensure that his privacy and that of his teammates is respected. On Sunday, Salah tweeted: “Its normal that a football federation seeks to solve the problems of its players so they can feel comfortable. But in fact, what I see is exactly the opposite.” “It is not normal that my messages and my lawyers messages are ignored. I do not know why all this (is happening)? Do you not have time to respond to us?!” he added. Ramy Abbas, Salahs agent, said earlier on Monday that he and his client have asked for guarantees regarding the 26-year-olds “wellbeing” while on the national team and assurances that his image rights will not be violated again. The dispute first surfaced in April when the Egyptian national team prominently featured Salahs image on its plane, which was provided by official team sponsor WE. Salah has a sponsorship deal with a rival telecommunications firm, Vodafone. Salahs relationship with the association has been strained since he was apparently used as a political symbol while the World Cup squad was based in Chechnya. Social media users in Egypt were divided over the dispute, with some posting strong criticism of the Egyptian federation for its lack of professionalism in working with Salah. Others criticized the prolific player, accusing him of being “arrogant.” Salah’s next expected appearance for the Egyptian national team will be on September 8 when it faces Niger in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
