DUBAI: US-Palestinian model and all-around-superstar Bella Hadid has been unveiled as the cover star for the September issue of the UK’s Pop magazine. Over the weekend, Hadid shared behind-the-scenes snaps from the shoot with photographer Charlotte Wales on Instagram. “Behind the scenes of my 4th @thepopmag cover by the incredible!!!! @charlottemwales !!!!!!! Everybody!!!! This was one of my favorite days ever. The cover will be out Monday (sic),” she captioned the photographs. The magazine spread sees Hadid posing inside a see-through box on a pedestal while viewers examine her as though she is an exhibit at a museum. The series has been called “Goldfish Bella” on the magazine’s Instagram account and it was partly shot by Stevie Dance, a New York-based fashion stylist, designer and director, who got behind the camera for the cover images. “BELLZ BELLS BEL... Speaking about the photoshoot, Heath revealed the theme was a play on the star’s “fame and celebrity life,” according to the Daily Mail. “‘The idea was an extension of all these Instagram identities that Bella creates... every month she’s Baby Bella, Bahamas Bella, Bad Bella, Hells Bells etc. We asked if she’d be willing to be Goldfish Bella for Pop. It’s obviously a take on her fame and celebrity life.” Hadid’s set-up is reminiscent of actress Tilda Swinton’s performance art piece “The Maybe,” which she performed in 1995 and 2013. Swinton took long naps, some of which lasted hours, inside a glass box placed, most recently, in New York’s Museum of Modern Art — an interesting comment on voyeurism and the failure to attain privacy, perhaps? On that note, Hadid recently put an end to months of speculation regarding the status of her relationship with singer The Weeknd when the on-off couple were spotted attending Kylie Jenner’s 21st birthday party together. A source told US Weekly that the duo is “great and happy together now.” Bella and the “Call Out My Name” singer, 28, previously dated for nearly two years before splitting in November 2016. They began to fuel relationship rumors again when they were seen together at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April. Hadid posed inside a clear box during the edgy shoot.
