The Saudi cabinet hailed on Tuesday the Kingdom for its contribution of $100 million to fight the remnants of the ISIS terrorist group in Syria. Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet session that convened in Jeddah. The $100 million were dedicated to the international coalition that is fighting ISIS in areas in northeastern Syria that have been liberated from the group. This contribution aims at backing the alliance in reviving local societies, said the cabinet. Efforts will focus on restoring essential services, saving lives and facilitating the return of Syrian refugees. They will also seek to ensure that ISIS and other terrorist groups do not threaten Syria or its neighbors again. King Salman also praised the Saudi authorities for the efforts in guaranteeing the success of the annual Hajj pilgrimage. He then briefed the ministers on his separate meetings with Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi and Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara, both of whom visited the Kingdom. The cabinet also tackled the latest regional and international developments, including the conflict in Yemen. It addressed the recent statement by the Saudi-led Arab coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen over the United Nations human rights report that was released on August 28. The alliance had condemned the report for its fallacies and unbiased approach in covering the war.
