Bolsonaro, who is still in hospital and unable to campaign following a near fatal stabbing, has 28.2 percent of voter support BRASILIA: Brazil’s far-right presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro, who is still in hospital and unable to campaign following a near fatal stabbing, has 28.2 percent of voter support for the Oct. 7 election, a new poll showed on Monday. Workers Party (PT) candidate Fernando Haddad, who replaced jailed former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on the ticket last week, is in second place with 17.6 percent, according to the survey by pollster MDA. The previous MDA poll did not survey a scenario without Lula and this was Haddad’s first showing. Center-left populist Ciro Gomes has 10.8 percent and business-friendly candidate Geraldo Alckmin had 6.1 percent. The nationwide survey of 2,002 people was carried out by pollster MDA for the transportation sector lobby CNT between Sept. 12-15 and has a margin of error of 2.2 percentage points.
