Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz held a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan in Jeddah on Wednesday, during which both sides reviewed close relations they share and prospects for their development. The meeting was attended by Prince Khalid Al Faisal, Advisor to the King, Prince of Makkah Region, Prince Mansour bin Mteb bin Abdulaziz and a number of other officials from both countries. Later Wednesday, Crown Prince Prince Mohammed bin Salman also met with the Pakistani Prime Minister and discussed historical relations between the two countries and means of enhancing them in various fields. Imran Khan was recently elected as Prime Minister of Pakistan. Speaking to Al Arabiya News Channel’s General Manager Turki al-Dakhil, Khan reaffirmed Islamabad’s support of Saudi Arabia. “Anyone who comes to power in Pakistan will visit Saudi Arabia first,” Khan told Al Arabiya. “Saudi Arabia has in the past helped Pakistan when Pakistan has been in need,” he added. Before his departure from Jeddah, Khan also held discussions with Organization of Islamic Cooperation Chief Dr. Yusuf Al-Othaimeen concerning a number of issues of common interest, including the importance of strengthening bilateral relations among OIC member states. They tackled the role played by OIC countries on issues facing Muslims worldwide, combating Islamophobia, and the dire situation faced by Muslim minorities in the world. Othaimeen stressed the pivotal role of Pakistan in OIC efforts and various projects, saying it had earned a distinguished position among member States, particularly Saudi Arabia. He stressed Islamabads interest in the many issues and topics on the OIC agenda, pointing out that Khan’s visit to Saudi Arabia has a significant and positive impact on joint Islamic action.
