Education Minister Ahmed Al-Issa stressed on Thursday the importance of confronting "Muslim Brotherhood" ideology attempting to infiltrate education systems in Saudi Arabia. He said the education ministry has rounded up a small group of teachers who were actively trying to turn student activities into a platform for "Muslim Brotherhood" radical ideology. Issa stressed that the Saudi curriculum is devoid of any intellectual complications. Existing curricula bear values upheld by the Saudi society, and are consistent with the countrys policy, he added. Issa praised dedicated teachers that are committed to the educational system, ministry instructions and national policies. Speaking on the sidelines of a press conference addressing Saudi curriculum development, the minister stressed that the future will reveal further development in the curriculum, especially for scientific content. He pointed out that contents of the national transformation plan, Vision 2030, will be integrated into the Saudi academic economy programs. Issa’s presser was held at the ministrys headquarters in Riyadh. Saudi Arabia’s education system is not solely based on print publications, the ministry aspires to eventually leave out printed textbooks in exchange for electronic information sources benefiting both students and teachers, Issa noted. “Our main objective is to develop a plan in line with the ministrys 2020 plan for textbooks and curricula. There are development steps for the coming semester linked to textbooks,” Tatweer Co. for Educational Services Chairman Mohammed Al-Zughaibi said. Tatweer is the Kingdom’s leading company in the field of education development. Zughaibi stressed the importance of a realistic and relatable content for students. He added that future developments will reduce dependence of students on private tutoring services, as they will have facilitated access to high-precision content details. The most prominent development for 2018 is electronic access for some 160,000 content pages, benefiting from interactive content.
