JEDDAH: The biggest gathering event for hiking worldwide has concluded its activities in Al-Baha, a city in the southwest of Saudi Arabia. More than 2,000 participants and organizational committees took part in the event from inside and outside the Kingdom, according to the Saudi Press Agency. The participants set off at 6 am on two separate tracks across the valleys and streams in the region, in a hiking event held to commemorate Saudi Arabia’s 88th National Day in Al-Mandaq, in Al-Baha region. The event, held under the supervision of Saudi Hiking, is considered the biggest hiking event worldwide, SPA said. The closing ceremony kicked off with a speech followed by the national anthem, as well as greetings, poems and speeches by the heads of delegations from outside the Kingdom. The 88th National Day Hiking event started with the participation of medical cadres and more than 13 ambulances, as well as the Saudi Red Crescent. The number of medical personnel was more than 10 cadres, including doctors and nursing staff, with more than 10 volunteers from the Red Crescent, and another 8 members of the Red Crescent, in addition to three medical posts on the men’s track and two points on the women’s track.
