The Saudi judiciary began on Sunday the trial of a citizen accused of defending the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group. The suspect is charged with belonging to the group and supporting it despite its terrorist designation. He sought to change the system of rule in Saudi Arabia and also cooperated with a member of the Qatari regime after the Kingdom had announced its diplomatic and economic boycott of the Gulf state in June 2017. The detainee held meetings with several foreigners, who enjoy official diplomatic status, with the purpose of harming Saudi Arabia’s policies. He had provided them with information about the Kingdom, as well as the activity of civil activists. In addition, he is charged with using social media to stoke sedition in the Kingdom and questioning the integrity of its security and judicial institutions and its foreign policies.
