RIYADH: The official website of the Future Investment Initiative (FII), a major conference that starts today in Riyadh, was hacked on Monday by unknown actors. The site — www.futureinvestmentinitiative.com — was infiltrated during the day, with anti-Saudi messages posted on the site. The messages made reference to the war in Yemen and the death of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who died in the Kingdom’s consulate in Istanbul. Khashoggi, a Saudi journalist who lived in the US, disappeared on Oct. 2 after visiting the consulate to complete paperwork related to his divorce.Khashoggi’s death was the result of a “rogue operation” by people acting beyond the scope of Saudi authorities, Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir said on Sunday. It was not immediately clear who was behind the apparent attack on the website, and representatives of the FII did not immediately respond to requests for comment when contacted by Arab News.Thousands of delegates are expected at the three-day FII event, which runs until Thursday.
