Discussions on the first day of the annual meetings of the Global Future Councils (GFC) showed that the world needs four priorities to ensure a prosperous future that enriches human life and faces the challenges ahead. Priorities have focused on creating a participatory design for the future industry, proactive legislation engineering, government productivity, and globalization. UAE’s Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said that future industry and promotion of futuristic ideology is the essence of UAEs culture of government work and its approach to developing its tools, strategies, and services. “The data revolution and rapid developments in the fields of technology and advanced science will be an important milestone shaping the future,” said bin Rashid as he was briefed on the future transformation platform at GFC’s third annual meetings. “We, in the UAE, are keen to employ these developments and adapt modern technology to serve the path of human development,” he stressed. “We are proud of UAE’s contributions in promoting humanitys journey to the future, facilitating the transition to it and benefiting from its tools.” “We are working hard to build the capacities of generations to the skills required to live in it,” he explained. Hosting GFCs is one of the axes of our vision in regards to UAEs global role in developing the conditions of human societies for the better, and it reflects our ambition and continuous work to achieve good for our people. " The World Economic Forum reviewed the future transformation platform, an interactive knowledge tool covering more than 120 different topics, including various sectors, countries and issues of global concern. This tool reflects the accumulation of knowledge and expertise in the Forum network, which contains research, analysis and studies conducted by leading world research institutions in addition to the knowledge base of the Forum’s activities and events. The Future Transformation Maps Platform includes approaches and visions from multiple and interrelated sources that enhance decision-making and support governments efforts to keep pace with future global trends. The platform provides a variety of options for users in several languages, including Arabic. Activities of the third annual meeting of the GFC were launched on Sunday with the participation of 700 scientists and futurists and experts in 38 councils, who envision the future of vital sectors to develop practical solutions to their challenges. Minister of Cabinet Affairs and The Future and Co-Chair of the Global Future Councils Mohammed al-Gergawi said in his opening speech that the current edition of the GFC will look at future global developments and develop likely scenarios for various future sectors. “Technological breakthroughs will bring opportunities worth $70 trillion in just 10 years, according to estimates,” he explained, adding that governments and individuals should be ready to take advantage of them.
