Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received Iraqi President Barham Salih and the two discussed bilateral relations and means of developing them across various sectors. Sheikh Mohamed and Salih also reviewed areas of cooperation between the two countries, and discussed prospects of developing them in the trade and investment sectors. The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments, as well as challenges facing the Arab world. The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince said that, under the leadership of President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE is invested in strengthening relations with Iraq and advancing cooperation in various fields. The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan always supported the brotherly Iraqi people, to help ensure their security, stability, well-being and unity, a legacy that continues to this day, the Crown Prince affirmed. He stressed that “tolerance, coexistence and the renunciation of division among the Iraqi people lead to stability and development.” For his part, the Iraqi President expressed his happiness to visit the UAE, emphasizing his countrys will to develop further and strengthen relations across multiple sectors. He wished the UAE and its people continued progress and prosperity under its visionary leadership. The two sides concluded their meeting by calling for cooperation and concerted efforts of Arab countries and the international community to confront terrorism and extremism that threatens the security and stability of nations and peoples. The Iraqi President arrived in the UAE from Kuwait, where he also was on an official visit. An official reception ceremony was held upon the arrival of the President, who was greeted by a number of senior officials.
