JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister reiterated that the Kingdom is foremost in seeking justice for citizen Jamal Khashoggi. Adel Al-Jubeir said justice for the slain journalist is a Saudi demand before it is an international one. Khashoggi was killed in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on Oct. 2. He said Saudi Arabia had investigated the case because it involved the murder of a Saudi citizen. Anyone seeking justice should provide Saudi judiciary with whatever evidence they have, urged Al-Jubeir. Saudi Arabia’s public prosecutor is seeking the death penalty for five out of 11 suspects charged in the murder of journalist. The Kingdom’s top diplomat also talked of the strong links between the leadership and the people of Saudi Arabia in an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper. “The Kingdom’s leadership, represented by the king and crown prince, is a red line and we won’t allow any attempt against our leadership or to attempt to undermine our leadership by anyone and under any pretext,” he said.
