Tariq Al-Shohaib has been the deputy minister for revenues at the Ministry of Finance since February 2017. Al-Shohaib is a member of the board of directors of several government institutions including the General Authority of Zakat and Tax, National Water Company, Social Development Bank, Jeddah Development and Urban Regeneration Company and the Saudi Food and Drug Authority. He also served as the managing director of business development at the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones for seven years between 2010 and 2017. During his tenure, he was able to form partnerships with national and international companies in the industrial, logistics, and service sectors. He was also the managing director of applications development at the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority and an applications developer at the same institution. Al-Shohaib holds a bachelor’s degree in information technology from King Saud University in Riyadh and a master’s degree in business administration from Prince Sultan University. Speaking at an investment forum recently organized by the Eastern Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he said small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) were a pillar of Saudi Arabia’s economy, Al-Shohaib highlighted the importance of SMEs within the private sector as a key pillar for the national economy and gross domestic product. He also said that SMEs were a key partner in the national development and the private sector, and were supported and empowered by the government, represented by the Ministry of Finance.
