British Ambassador to Yemen Michael Aron hinted that Yemen peace talks will be taking place next week in Sweden, saying in a tweet that he will be attending the negotiations. The Yemeni internationally-recognized government, for its part, still awaits an official invitation, however, has kickstarted preparations for attending the meeting expected to be held in a resort north of Stockholm near Uppsala city. Yemeni Foreign Minister Khaled Al Yamani said that the Aden-based government headed by President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi loudly rejected airlifting any terrorist affiliated with Iranian proxy Hezbollah or the Quds Force by United Nations carriers. “Coup militias are practicing extortion when repeatedly pitching in last-minute conditions ahead of negotiations, such as transporting those wounded which was the core reason why Geneva talks were impeded,”Yamani told Asharq Al-Awsat while highlighting that Houthi militias are making similar attempts as to put a stoke in the peace process. In September, an attempt to hold peace talks for Yemen was abandoned after three days of waiting for the Houthi movement’s delegation which never arrived. On another note, Saudi-led Arab Coalition Spokesman Col. Turki al-Malki said coalition warplanes were able to destroy a rocket launcher in the northern Yemeni province of Saada only minutes before it was set to launch an attack against neighboring Saudi Arabia. According to Col. al-Malki, the target of the rocket was southern Saudi Arabia. The Arab Coalition also handed over, to the Yemeni Coast Guard, the management of ports and coastal security in Hadramaut. It also supplied Yemeni forces with boats equipped with weapons, communication devices and advanced radars, to guard and protect the coast of Hadramaut. The handover, at which it was declared that the Hadramaut Coast Guard is fully equipped and ready, took place during an official ceremony in Mukalla, with the attendance of Salem Ahmed Al Khanbashi, Deputy Prime Minister of Yemen, Lt. Colonel Abdullah Al Zuwaidi, Joint Task Force Commander of the Arab Coalition, Mohammed Saeed Al Jaber, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Yemen, Matthew Toller, Ambassador of the United States to Yemen, Major General Faraj Salemin Al Bahsani, Governor of Hadramaut, and several Yemeni officials.
