The second batch of the Saudi oil products grant arrived Monday at the port of Aden and contained 65 tons of diesel and 32 tons of fuel. It will operate 64 power plants in 10 Yemeni provinces and it comes as part of Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen. “The arrival of the second batch of oil derivatives will contribute to the improvement witnessed by the citizens in different districts in Aden in terms of electricity,” Saba news agency quoted Minister of Electricity and Energy Mohammed al-Anani as saying. He expressed the government’s gratitude to the Saudi continued support, which is aimed at developing and constructing Yemen. Aden Governor Ahmed Salim Rabie, for his part, stressed that the second batch of Saudi Arabia’s grant will help improve the stability of the electricity. Representative of the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen Mujib Hamid said that the program is keen to maintain electricity in the liberated governorates. On the other hand, Yemen’s Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik hailed the services provided by the United Nations Childrens Fund (UNICEF) in the fields of health and education throughout the past years. He said these services were provided at a critical period due to the war imposed by the Houthi coup militias. This came during his reception of UNICEF’s Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa Geert Cappelaere in Aden on Monday. "It is necessary to evaluate the work experience during the previous period in order to overcome any difficulties," Abdulmalik said. He stressed the “work of UN organizations with the government to ensure better access of services to the greatest number of beneficiaries.” "Children are the most vulnerable to war, and the Houthi militias consider them as the fuel of this war after exploiting dozens them in their wars against Yemenis.” “Some children were even abducted from their homes," he said. Cappelaere, for his part, praised the Yemeni government’s cooperation and its keenness to develop partnership with the UNICEF. The organization is working on expanding its activities in Yemen in the fields of health, education, water and environment, he explained, adding that it will also work on identifying the urgent needs of the Yemeni people. Cappelaere submitted the UNICEF nomination of Sara Besolo Naynty as a new representative of the UNICEF to Yemen.
