Saudi civil defense chief holds key talks in Russia

The two sides discussed issues related to disaster and crisis control, as well as risk reduction, according to the Russian Ministry of Civil Defense and Emergencies JEDDAH: Russian and Saudi Civil Defense officials recently met in Moscow to discuss enhancing bilateral relations in the crisis control field. Alexander Chupriyan, Russia’s first deputy minister of civil defense, emergencies and disaster relief, met with Lt. Gen. Suliman Al-Amro, director-general of the Saudi Civil Defense, who is currently on a visit to Russia. The two sides discussed issues related to disaster and crisis control, as well as risk reduction, according to the Russian Ministry of Civil Defense and Emergencies. The minister praised the Kingdom for taking part in activities within the International Civil Defense Organization. Lt. Gen. Al-Amro said that Saudi Arabia would ensure providing its civil defense units with the latest technical equipment in conformity with plans to enhance bilateral training, which includes developing search-and-rescue efforts. The two sides also agreed to sign a memorandum of cooperation in the near future. Lt. Gen. Al-Amro stressed that the memorandum would boost cooperation between the two nations.
