Saudi Health Minister Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah on Sunday called on Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal. The Makkah governor reviewed the performance of the Health Ministry in the region. He was also briefed about different health care projects aimed at providing people with the best services across the region. The health minister also presented the World Health Organization’s certificate declaring Makkah’s Al-Jumum city the “first healthy city” in the region and “the third” in the Kingdom to the Makkah governor. Top officials of the ministry were also present during the meeting. In order to boost the health care sector and improve the performance of hospitals in Saudi Arabia, the Health Ministry is effectively pursuing the implementation of Adaa standards. Adaa, the National Center for Performance Measurement, is tasked with performance measurement of government entities. It involves providing tools, frameworks and educational support, which enables better measurement and development. The program features over 40 indicators to measure the performance of seven key therapeutic aspects including emergency, clinics, surgeries, hospitalization, intensive care, radiology and labs. The program also aims to develop the skills of health professionals and to enable them to effectively use these performance indicators. The performance-monitoring agency was established in 2016.
