A Saudi delegation including figures from various sectors discussed boosting investment opportunities with the Pakistani side. This came during a meeting held in the Chamber of Commerce in Karachi and was attended by a number of representatives of the Pakistani government, trade sector and businessmen. The Saudi delegation was briefed on Gwadar Ports features and the available opportunities it offers to facilitate the transfer of Saudi exports to the Central Asian countries. Pakistan links South and West Asia as well as China and the Gulf region, which is a great advantage for proximity to the worlds largest markets, according to Shahzad Ahmed Khan, Pakistans trade representative. Khan told Asharq Al-Awsat that some of the Pakistani ports are considered a corridor for energy pipelines, trade and tourist flows in light of a number of projects under Pakistan’s Ministry of Economic Development. Pakistan had prepared a coherent road map for action and had adopted strategies to implement policies that would lead to achievements, in addition to a national vision designed to reach its national goals and aspirations, Khan explained. He noted that the Pakistani diplomatic mission in Saudi Arabia follows a plan of action that highlights means of improving bilateral trade and investment and looking for opportunities for joint ventures in the manufacturing and services sectors. He also referred to the two parties’ joint efforts that will provide investment in Pakistan and its industrial and investment system. The Pakistani side will also provide incentives to Saudi investors in the fields of energy, agriculture, manufacturing, mining and infrastructure development. In this context, Saudi Exports Development Authority Advisor to the Secretary General Omar Rajeh, who is one of the delegation’s members, stressed that Gwadar Port’s location is strategic for international shipping. He explained that the port is located in western Pakistan and overlooks the Arabian Sea, which is one of the deep seas of the world and its also open to the ocean, allowing giant vessels to enter and move easily.
