As Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia complained over his rivals slamming him for expressing his wish to run for the presidency on April 18, Movement for the Society of Peace announced field preparations to take part in the coming presidential elections through its candidate. Ouyahia stated Saturday – after meeting cadres of his party - that several parties in Algeria are discussing political possibilities regarding his fate in politics. Serving Algeria under the supervision of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika is an honor, said Ouyahia, affirming his permanent readiness to work with the president on all fronts. According to Ouyahia, the president’s party National Liberation Front is irked by him for considering that he has an implicit political ambition to succeed the president. Earlier, Ouyahia denied any intention to run for the presidency as long as Bouteflika is the president. In several occasions, he guaranteed his unconditional support to Bouteflika. Further, the movement affirmed in a statement that its institutions, voters and strivers are fully ready to engage in the presidential elections with its candidate to avoid wasting more time. The movement pursued to postpone the elections and its head Abderrazak Makri discussed this option with the presidency but failed to attain it. In its statement, the movement said that it exerted all efforts to unite Algerians against the international, regional, political and economic risks to face the country after the future presidential elections. In a related matter, political opposer Rachid Nekkaz revealed that he will run for presidential elections and insisted on the opposition uniting on naming one candidate in order to establish the state of law in Algeria.
