The Saudi Specialized Court set on Thursday February 24 as the date to resume the hearing in the lawsuit filed against the beIN Sports channels. The complaint is being filed against three Qatari defendants, Youssef Mohammed Hassan al-Obeidli, Tarek Darwish Ali Zainal and Mohammed Abdul Aziz Abdullah al-Subaie. The court said in a statement that due to the absence of the defendants, in view of the inability of the court’s authority to communicate with the defendants at their place of residence and on the basis of Article 25 of the Terrorist Crimes and its financing statute, a date has been set for the completion of the hearing on February 24. The court hoped that the defendants or their agents would attend the hearing on the assigned date, receive a copy of the prosecution’s suit and provide an answer at the hearing. Should the defendants fail to appear in court, then it may be forced to look into the case against them in absentia as stipulated in the Terrorist Crimes and its financing statute.
