Dustin Johnson confident he can make a charge up the leaderboard. Dubai Champion Bryson DeChambeau tired after victory in the Emirates. LONDON: Thomas Pieters leads the way at the Saudi International, but there are a host of big-hitters and names in the chasing pack at the Royal Greens Golf & Country Club. Here is what they had to say after the first round. DUSTIN JOHNSON — two-under The world No.3’s four birdies were undone slightly by two bogeys and the American ace said: “I thought I played pretty well. I drove it pretty good, hit some really good iron shots. If I keep hitting it like I’m doing, I’ll definitely make a lot of birdies (out there).” ROSS FISHER — five-under The world No. 83 shot an impressive bogey-free round in the morning, and said: “(I am) delighted to be honest. It’s tricky out there. But for the most part, felt like I put the ball on the green in the right spots, and it was nice to get the putter going on the back nine, for us, the front nine, and to make four birdies, and nice to finish off with a birdie there and five-under, obviously delighted with my start.” BRYSON DECHAMBEAU — two-under Having won in Dubai last week the American was feeling very tired and said: “It’s very difficult. You know, I’m a little tired, fatigued, body is definitely fatigued, physically and mentally, especially after a good win last week. I think that there’s a lot of adjustments to be made relative to last week.” ALFIE PLANT — five-under The young Englishman made the early running with and impressive front nine of 28 before carding a 65, he said: “I didn’t realize I was on 28, actually, until I’ve just come in. I’ve never shot 28 before on the front nine or back nine. I really enjoyed it.”
