Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces received on Monday Pope Francis, who is on the first-ever papal visit to the Arabian Peninsula. The Pope was given an artillery salute and military flyover following which the Papal Anthem and that of the United Arab Emirates were played. Abu Dhabis Crown Prince said he and Dubais ruler were "delighted" to meet Pope Francis. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan tweeted pictures of the meeting in what he described as "our homeland of tolerance." Sheikh Mohammed tweeted: "We discussed enhancing cooperation, consolidating dialogue, tolerance, human coexistence & important initiatives to achieve peace, stability and development for peoples and societies." Pope Francis signed a book of honor at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi, writing in English of his "gratitude for your warm welcome and hospitality."
