Muslim World League (MWL) chief Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, on an official visit to New York on Saturday, met with a number of senior US officials, including Texas Senator Ted Cruz. Cruz lauded global efforts exerted by the MWL on raising awareness, spreading tolerance and bravely confronting violent extremism and terrorism. He also praised programs sponsored and organized by the international body on promoting coexistence and harmony in countries with religious and ethnic diversity. Al-Issa also met with Democratic Senator Joseph Lieberman. The pair discussed a number of topics related to fighting extremism and terror ideologies, promoting tolerance around the world and endorsing dialogue with among all civilizations. Al-Issa also met with Democratic Representative Brad Sherman and addressed topics of mutual concern. He also met with the counter-extremism campaigner and former UN ambassador, Mark D. Wallace, and discussed ways to tackle radicalism and extremist ideologies. The two also reviewed areas of work and joint cooperation. The US officials, for their part, commended the MWL for its efforts in spreading awareness on the values of moderation and for its dedication to confronting violent extremism and terrorism.
