The German Ambassador, Joerg Ranau, has stressed Germany’s keenness to boost cooperation with Saudi Arabia in various fields, especially medicine, health, and education. According to Ranau, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry for Health, Sabine Weiss, discussed during her visit to Saudi Arabia with Fahd Al-Mubarak, secretary-general of the G20 Saudi Secretariat, several topics of mutual interest ahead of Saudi Arabia’s G20 presidency in 2020, He told Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that Weiss’s visit to Jeddah and Riyadh shows Germany’s enthusiasm to intensify bilateral cooperation in the medical field and industries related to health care and education. There are hundreds of Saudis studying medicine in German universities or pursuing specialized training at hospitals there, he noted. An example of such initiatives is the program launched by Charité Hospital in 2015 based on the initiative of Professor Osama Shobokshi, he added.
