An Afghan official said three explosions have struck near a Shiite shrine and cemetery in western Kabul on Thursday. Six people were killed while more than 20 others were wounded. The attack came as people were gathering at the cemetery to mark Nowruz, the Persian Iranian New Year. The polices initial investigation indicated that three explosive devices had been remotely detonated, setting off the explosions, the Associated Press reported. ISIS said in a statement on Friday that it was behind the explosions. For his part, President Ashraf Ghani condemned the attack, saying on Twitter: "As we celebrate this auspicious day to bind us together our fellow citizens witnessed another devastating day in Kabul. "We lost peaceful citizens to a coward enemy that knows no bounds," he added.
