Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed on Sunday Moscow’s readiness to bolster cooperation with Arab nations in all fields, reported the Interfax news agency. In a cable to participants at the Arab Summit in Tunisia, he said that the tensions in several Middle Eastern and North African countries only underline the importance of the Arab League as a platform for dialogue. He stressed the need to resolve ongoing crises in the region through political and diplomatic means, citing Syria “where, through Russian efforts, we were able to deal a striking blow to terrorist forces and kick off the political process and resolve pressing humanitarian problems.” Moreover, Putin underscored the need to resolve the Arab-Israeli conflict in order to ensure that stability is restored in the region. Ultimately, a “fair solution” must be reached to the Palestinian problem. The Arab Summit concluded on Sunday.
