Fatah Central Committee member, Minister Hussein al-Sheikh attacked the truce agreement between Israel and Hamas, saying security coordination with Tel Aviv has now become “halal”, or legitimate. He criticized Hamas forces “in orange vests”, who were deployed to prevent citizens from reaching the Gaza border during the Marches of Return on Saturday. Hamas and other factions deployed more than 8,000 people wearing orange uniforms to prevent any altercations between Palestinians and Israeli forces on the border. Hamas’ measure was part of a prior understanding with an Egyptian security delegation, which also conveyed assurances that Israel will not use excessive force in quelling the rallies. Sheikh considered this an important indicator that the agreement set by Egypt has come into effect. The agreement includes: allowing construction materials and fuel for the power station to enter Gaza and expanding the fishing zone. But Hamas spokesman Abdul Latif al-Qanoua announced that the movement is waiting for the Egyptian security delegation to provide timetables by Israel to implement the terms of the deal. Qanoua added that Israel has no choice but to commit to the agreement, warning that the marches will continue and escalate until the demands are met. Moreover, he asserted that the planned facilitations and projects in Gaza are the result of the pressure of the rallies and the Palestinian resistance. He explained that various projects will be implemented by citizens in Gaza Strip. They cover electricity, the fishing zone, operating projects, increased traffic at the crossings, energy, entry of dual use materials and several humanitarian and infrastructure projects. Israel is expected to however, present long-term timetables to Hamas. Military affairs analyst at Yedioth Ahronoth, Alex Fisherman noted that the process could take a year or even longer. In the first stage, he explained, Hamas must commit to stopping incendiary balloons, nightly harassment and the flotillas, while the demonstrations can continue. In return, Hamas would receive a permit to start repairing the turbines and operating them with the fuel that would be coming in from Israel, which also committed to increasing water supply into Gaza and doubling its amount of electricity. After that, Hamas will receive $30 million pledged by Qatar for the next six months, which will go towards public works as part of UN projects. Israel has promised to allow Hamas to export agricultural goods not only to the West Bank, but also to Israel and Europe and extended the fishing zone to 12-15 nautical miles. Fisherman believes that the next stages are planned to be implemented after Israeli elections. The stages include projects: to rehabilitate the Gaza Strip, renew the infrastructure for water and electricity supplies, housing and sewage, increase employment and more. Israel and Gaza will also deal with the issue of prisoners of war and detainees. The Egyptian delegation, chaired by General Ahmed Abdel Khaliq, left the coastal strip to meet with Israeli officials and agree on a schedule and timetable for the agreement. The delegation departed after a new, but limited flare up between the Palestinian factions and Israel, during which two missiles were launched. Prime Minister Bejamin Netanyahu told Israeli forces to remain in place on the border with Gaza, adding: “We dont know if this calm will continue and we are ready for every development.” “This is how we manage things: We use force when necessary, and we avoid, if possible, unnecessary wars.” The Israeli cabinet is expected to vote on the agreement, however, Education Minister Naftali Bennett and Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked declared they will vote against “surrendering to Hamas.” Bennett warned that Hamas leader Ismail Sinwar is going to “victory celebrations without any fear that Israel will eliminate them. Thats not a way to establish deterrence.” “Anyone who thinks that he bought us peace is wrong because surrendering to terrorism just whets their appetite for more terrorism. We can expect another wave of terror - a much more violent one.”
