Saudi Arabia stressed on Saturday its support for the choices made by the Sudanese people in determining their future, reported the Saudi Press Agency. The military on Thursday overthrew longtime President Omar al-Bashir and announced the formation of a transitional military council. Riyadh welcomed the measures taken by the council in wake of Bashir’s ouster. The Kingdom voiced its support for the measures that are aimed at protecting the people, hoping that security and stability will prevail in Sudan. It called on all Sudanese people to prioritize national interests above all else in order to achieve their aspirations, prosperity and development. Moreover, it revealed that Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz ordered that a humanitarian package, including oil derivatives, wheat and medicine, be allocated to Sudan to ease its economic crisis.
