RIYADH: Young Saudis are being trained to deal with the international media as part of an ambitious project to promote the Kingdom around the world. The three-month peace program aims to equip the country’s future leaders with the skills to represent their homeland on a global stage. A specially selected group of Saudi men and women have been learning to communicate with TV, radio, online and print media to push a positive image of the Kingdom to an international audience. The Peace Project for Cultural Communication is designed to give trainees the necessary expertise to participate at international conferences on behalf of the country, clear up common misconceptions and highlight the renaissance taking place in the Kingdom. The training schedule includes lectures, interactive exercises, discussions and field trips, and will conclude next month with an international youth get-together. The project’s executive director, Fahd bin Sultan Al-Sultan, said the young trainees would be taking on important roles. “We must equip them with adequate tools and skills to express their opinions eloquently and explicitly.
