Egypt’s foreign minister, Sameh Shoukry, reaffirmed the presence of unanimous support among Arab League member states for a final two-state solution settling the Palestinian cause. According to the two-state solution, a Palestinian state will be established based within the Green Line, the 67 armistice border, with east Jerusalem as its capital. Speaking at a joint presser with his South African counterpart, Shoukry said that the Arab League will convene upon a Palestinian request to hear out the head of the Palestinian National Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, to discuss current developments and the rights of Palestinians. Shoukry, as reported by the official Middle East News Agency, confirmed that “support for the Palestinian people and the realization of all their legitimate rights is stable.” He also pointed out that there are many challenges that must be dealt with through continued Arab consensus and common Arab action. More on the matter, President Abdel Fatah el-Sisi is set to meet on Sunday with Abbas in Cairo to discuss the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories. According to the Palestinian Ambassador in Cairo Diab al-Louh, Abbas will participate in the Extraordinary Session of the Council of the Arab League at the ministerial level that will be held on Sunday, April 21. Louh added that Palestinian President will also brief the Arab foreign ministers on the latest developments in the Palestinian situation.
