Al-Sheikh congratulated the ambassadors on their appointment, and underlined the importance of the council in the governing of the country and in establishing links with parliaments around the world RIYADH: Saudi Shoura Council Speaker Dr. Abdullah Al-Asheikh said on Tuesday the newly appointed Saudi ambassadors have a central role in strengthening ties with the Kingdom’s partners. Al-Sheikh welcomed ambassadors to the US, Indonesia, Georgia and Cameroon to the council headquarters in Riyadh. He congratulated the ambassadors on their appointment, and underlined the importance of the council in the governing of the country and in establishing links with parliaments around the world. The envoys said they recognized the role of the council in strengthening ties between the Kingdom and other countries through mutual visits and parliamentary friendship committees. Al-Sheikh also highlighted the Shoura Council’s role in national decision-making and parliamentary diplomacy. The Shoura Council speaker is scheduled to visit Pakistan today. He has been invited by Pakistan’s Senate Chairman Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani to further the bilateral relationship between the two countries and boost cooperation in the fields of trade and investment, according to a statement issued by the chairman Senate’s office. “The visit is a continuation of the Parliamentary linkage firmed up by a visit of chairman senate of Pakistan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia last year,” the statement added. During the visit, the visiting Saudi official will hold meetings with Pakistan"s top civil and military leadership including President Dr. Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan, Chairman Sanjrani, Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser and army chief Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa. Other than the high profile engagements, the delegation will also be given guided tours to Pakistan Ordnance Factory, Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms, and Ministry of Ports and Shipping at the Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services on where officials will brief the visiting delegation on China Pakistan Economic Corridor and the development work and future prospects of Gwadar respectively.
