Central Committee of Sudan Doctors (CCSD) accused Tuesday the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of killing a youth after torturing him along with others in El Daen city, in the west of Sudan. This brings up the number of dead at the hand of the RSF to six in three days only. On its Facebook page, CCSD posted: “On July 15th, 2019, members from Al Janjaweed (RSF) militia beat and tortured a number of youths in El Daen city, Eastern Darfur State, based on the allegation from Al Janjaweed – in a hint at the RSF – that the youths have stolen a mobile phone. "Mudathir Abdelrahman Hassan passed away as a result of the RSF torture." According to AFP, two witnesses said an RSF unit had arrested five youths — accusing them of stealing mobile phones from their base — and took them outside town, where they tortured them, before throwing them into the street. One of the victims allegedly died, they said. After the victim was buried, town residents converged on the RSF base and torched it, the two witnesses added. “In the last three days, six innocent Sudanese civilians lost their lives through live ammunition, run over and torture at the hand of Janjaweed,” stated the CCSD. The committee added in its statement, “the continuation of the barbarity and tampering with civilian’s safety daily by Al Janjaweed militias coupled with not holding them accountable under any law or code of ethics, prove that the Transitional Military Council protects these militias.” Ismail al-Taj, spokesman of the Sudanese Professionals Association (SPA), told a news conference in Khartoum that the protesters were still demanding an independent investigation into the bloodshed, adding that the considerable part of the responsibility falls on the TMC. Omar al-Bashir was toppled by Sudan’s armed forces on April 11, ending a three-decade ruling. Yet, since then the TMC has refused to hand over the power to civilians as protesters and some western countries demand.
