RIYADH: The General Authority of the Diplomatic Quarter in cooperation with King Saud University has organized its first blood donation campaign. It aims to boost the authority’s role in society by supporting patients and hospitals that are in constant need of blood, in accordance with its humanitarian role and social responsibility. It promotes the authority’s partnership with the Ministry of Health and supports its efforts to provide blood units for every person in need. The Saudi Ministry of Health launches a campaign each year to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation, highlighting the role it plays in saving the lives of hundreds of thousands of patients awaiting surgical operations. Blood banks in Saudi Arabia and the region still face difficulties, and many government and private entities work to meet the needs of government and private hospitals to maintain blood reserves. “We are always working to serve the nation and bear a responsibility toward every citizen and resident, which comes in line with the authority’s national role and the efforts to realize the leadership’s ambitions,” the authority’s Executive Chairman Dr. Fahd bin Mushayt said. He said that the campaign was part of the efforts exerted at the Diplomatic Quarter to keep pace with the development of the Kingdom. The campaign attracted ambassadors, diplomatic corps employees and their families, in addition to citizens and residents. Mushayt expressed his gratitude to all those who had donated blood and contributed to the campaign’s success.
