Bahrain executed on Saturday two terrorism convicts and a murderer held in a separate case, reported Bahrain’s news agency (BNA). The first case included charges of joining a terrorist group, murders, and possession of explosives and firearms to carry out terror acts. Twelve accused living Iran, Iraq and Germany and 46 living in Bahrain joined the group, said Advocate General and Chief of anti-crime prosecution Ahmed Al Hammadi. The suspects plotted to commit several terrorist attacks in Bahrain in order to disrupt public order and jeopardize its safety and security. The accused living in Iran and Iraq communicated with members of the group in Bahrain who were in prison or at large to recruit new members and provide them with explosives, firearms and ammunition that had been smuggled into the country. They also provided them with funds to support themselves and the actions of the group. They also collaborated with their leader, a fugitive in Germany, to arrange the travel of members to Iran and Iraq for training in the use of explosives and firearms in Revolutionary Guard camps to prepare them to commit terrorist crimes in Bahrain. The suspects were arrested according to the Law for the Protection of Society from Terrorist Acts. A search of their houses and properties revealed large amounts of explosives, bombs, explosive molds, Kalashnikovs, guns, ammunition, cars and boats used to commit terrorist crimes and smuggling. The second case addresses the murder of the imam of Bin Shaddah Mosque. He was killed and dismembered by the muezzin of the mosque, said Al Hammadi. The Public Prosecution investigated the details of the crime, the evidence against the accused, his confession, testimonies from witnesses and technical and medical reports and referred the case to the High Criminal Court. During the trial, the lawyer of the defendant and the Public Prosecution presented their written and oral pleadings. The prosecution called for the death sentence. Al Hammadi added that the three executions were carried out by firing squad, in the presence of the execution judge, the representatives of the Public Prosecution and those concerned, as required by law.
