The Saudi-led Arab coalition announced Tuesday that a booby-trapped drone launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militias fell soon after being fired from Sanaa. Coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Maliki said the drone was fell in residential areas in Amran city in Yemen after flying some 35 kilometers. No casualties were reported. The Houthis are continuing to claim responsibility for terrorist operations through their various media, making their leaders and plotters accountable for such acts according to international humanitarian law, Maliki stressed. The Houthi claim that they had targeted Abha International Airport only confirms the coalition assertion that the militias have no choice but to resort to lies in order to raise the morale of their terrorist members and mislead the Yemeni public, he added. The coalition will continue to take firm deterrent measures to neutralize and destroy the militias’ ballistic capabilities and protect civilians inside Yemen and protect regional and international security, he stated.
