The competition received 24 submissions, including two female directors The winning films will premiere at the inaugural festival DUBAI: The Red Sea International Film Festival, Saudi Arabia’s first independent film festival to be held in Jeddah, has announced the winners of an initiative aimed at supporting Saudi filmmakers. The Festival, set to take place in March 2020, will include feature-length and short film productions. The “Tamheed Fund” aims to support feature films in the Kingdom made by Saudi filmmakers and focusing on authentic local stories presented in innovative ways. The competition received 24 submissions, including two female directors. The winners are “The Book of the Sun”, directed by Faris Godus and produced by Sohayb Godus. And “Forty Years and A Night”, directed by Mohammed Alholayyil and produced by Abdulrahman Khawj. The winning films will premiere at the inaugural festival.
