The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Housing has launched a new initiative under the Sustainable Building program, which is a service to test the quality of constructions. This step aims to reinforce the quality of buildings and ensure them being free from engineering defaults. It also seeks to protect the rights of citizens and beneficiaries in the real estate sector. The ministry clarified on Thursday, in a statement, that achieving this would occur through continuous supervision that is divided into seven phases to cover basic construction works. Notably, the poor quality in units in the real estate has represented an obstacle before those wishing to own real estate. Further, the ministry announced delivering the first document of sustainable building to a beneficiary in Riyadh. The service reduces costs of operation and maintenance of residential units and brings down potential risks in residential construction. According to the ministry, the mechanism to test the quality of construction works occurs through technicians. The building is granted a quality license after it has been completed and has passed all the test stages. Based on the assessment, the building gets a classification that determines its commitment level to the sustainability standards.
