MORONI: A team from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) arrived on Friday in Comoros to set up a medical camp on Moheli island. The specialties of the medical team, which will stay on the island for a week, include urology, pediatric surgery and general surgery. Upon arrival, team members were received by the Comoros president’s adviser for Arab affairs, a representative of the country’s Foreign Ministry, and an official from the Saudi Embassy in the capital Moroni. Meanwhile, in Khartoum KSRelief delivered medical aid to hospitals and health centers to help people affected by floods and rains. This was done in the presence of the Saudi ambassador to Sudan, Ali bin Hassan Jafar. So far, KSRelief has distributed 227 tons of aid to Sudan’s worst-hit areas. Jafar said the KSRelief aid is part of Saudi Arabia’s support for Sudan in all fields, including humanitarian needs. On the Yemeni island of Socotra, KSRelief distributed 200 food baskets benefiting 154 families. It also distributed 3,000 food baskets in Yemen’s Shabwah governorate, benefiting 1,800 people. In Syria’s Idlib province, KSRelief distributed 2,182 food baskets in several camps. Over two decades, Saudi Arabia has spent $87 billion in humanitarian aid to 81 countries.
