Three Saudi government entities have unveiled their alliance for the sake of promoting the 4th industrial revolution techniques in 100 factories in the kingdom. Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) operates through the national productivity program, in partnership with the Saudi Industrial Development Fund and King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, on endorsing the 4th industrial revolution techniques in order to help industrial firms transform digitally. Khalid al-Salem, director general at MODON, has affirmed that the program seeks to support factories in achieving the highest averages of production efficiency through setting transformation plans. These plans would serve operational excellence concepts and the 4th industrial revolution techniques in 100 current factories. Salem added that MODON is specialized in selecting factories based on its standards and an evaluation of its condition, in addition to carrying out detailed studies and then setting transformation plans. The Fund, in its turn, is responsible for conducting a feasibility study and funding the factories based on the adopted systems. He pointed out that the thorough study to prepare 100 factories to transform into the 4th industrial revolution techniques will be implemented in partnership with technology partners including 20 factories, in cooperation with General Electric, and 80 factories to be announced later on. Further, two workshops will be held among the participating parties to set the standards for selecting the factories. The program was launched via three workshops held in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam and attended by more than 200 factories. Notably, the program is a shortcut to achieve the Saudi Vision 2030 goals. More than 300 strategic initiatives to develop 11 essential industries fall under it.
