RIYADH: The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) signed a memorandum of understanding with Jeddah Metro Co. and Saudi Public Transport Co. (SAPTCO) on Monday to develop the transport links to King Abdul Aziz International Airport (KAIA) Terminal 1. It was signed by Alaa Samman, GACA’s director general of the general administration of privatization and commercial operation, Jeddah Metro Co. CEO Dr. Osama Abdo and SAPTCO CEO Khalid Al-Hugail. The agreement was signed at the new King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah. Samman said GACA will allocate special parking facilities for buses in the departure and arrival areas at KAIA Terminal 1, as well as short-term car parking spaces outside the arrival area. It will also oversee the cleanliness and safety of the buses. The Jeddah Metro Co. chief said his company would identify the bus routes from Terminal 1 and would issue the necessary approvals in coordination with GACA. The company would gradually expand services to cover the whole city, he added.
