Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, held official talks in Riyadh on Monday with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Discussions focused on bilateral relations and cooperation between their countries. They also explored the promising opportunities between them in various fields, most notably in energy and investment in infrastructure. They tackled cooperation to ensure stability of the energy markets to achieve the interests of consumers and producers, reported the Saudi Press Agency. Talks between the Crown Prince and the Russian leader also covered regional developments, especially the conflicts in Yemen and Syria. They underlined the importance of combating terrorism and extremism and drying up their sources of funding. Crown Prince Mohammed stressed that Saudi Arabia agrees with Russia on the need for all countries to commit to the United Nations Charter. He added that cooperation between Riyadh and Moscow in the energy sector will achieve stability. Moreover, he voiced his appreciation for Russia’s support of the territorial integrity of Yemen, stressing the need to reach a political solution. For his part, Putin said that Saudi Arabia and Russia were cooperating to resolve regional and international problems and seeking to boost peace and stability. Putin had arrived in Riyadh earlier on Monday. He held talks with Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz. He is set to visit the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday.
