King Salman receives International Committee of the Red Cross president

The president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Peter Maurer, called on King Salman at his palace in Riyadh on Tuesday. During the meeting, they reviewed ICRC’s humanitarian and relief efforts. The ICRC president appreciated the Kingdom’s continued support for humanitarian and relief works in various countries.  According to official figures, Saudi Arabia spent a total of $92.4 billion to support 84 countries between 1996 and 2019, while the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) implemented 1,057 projects amounting to around $3.553 billion in 44 countries. KSRelief completed 368 projects in Yemen in partnership with 80 UN bodies and international and local NGOs. On Tuesday, the king and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman sent separate cables of of condolence to Emperor of Japan Naruhito following the devastation and deaths caused by a typhoon that struck northern Japan. The king and the crown prince offered condolences to the Japanese monarch and families of the victims.
